TryFetch FAQ
Who is tryfetch*?
tryfetch* is a fintech company that provides services around financial data aggregation. Its platform allows businesses to access and analyse customers’ transactional data for purposes like affordability assessments, financial behaviour assessment, and fraud detection. We have a strong focus on helping our clients make informed decisions by providing deep insights into spending patterns. Established more than a decade ago and headquartered in South Africa, tryfetch* integrates this data into APIs and offers tools for digital onboarding, affordability assessments, and automated decision-making.
Is your data safe with tryfetch*, and where does it go?
Definitely, tryfetch* prioritises data safety by using bank-grade security and a consent-driven process. Your data is only accessed with your explicit consent, and we ensure it is always handled securely. Users retain control over their financial information. Data access is read-only, meaning we cannot alter accounts or perform transactions. For additional security, we follow industry best practices, including encryption and multi-layered security systems
What different errors mean
With Direct Bank Connect (DBC) we connect directly to the user’s bank account via their internet banking profile to retrieve transactional data. Should an error be returned by the internet banking platform during this process, tryfetch* captures it and returns it to the user to action on. Some examples of possible errors are:
- Incorrect Username and Password entered
- There is a notice that the bank has asked you as their customer to explicitly accept. Please log into your internet banking profile.
What if my bank isn’t on the list?
tryfetch* supports all major South African banks. Should you require access via DBC to a bank that is not in our supported bank list please feel free to reach out. We do however support most banks via our statement upload functionality.
I’ve got more than one bank account
After successfully retrieving your transactional data via DBC you will be presented with a list of accounts that are found in your profile. You can then decide which account or accounts you would like to proceed with by selecting them in the list provided.
